My Music

File management with Spirio Cloud

My Music is the area in the Spirio app where you can manage your recordings and files. Here you can access your recordings, edit recordings and even share files with others via a remote file management system called Spirio Cloud.
* My Favorites and My Playlists now are located under the Music tab.

Your music files are located in the left tab under My Music. There you will find two main directories:
•  Spirio Piano contains all the files that are stored on your piano.
•  Spirio Cloud is a remote directory where you can store and share files remotely or “in the cloud.” Files that are stored in the Cloud can easily be shared with others. You can share files and folders with your Spirio contacts, or share individual files with anyone via email address.

When you share a file, a notification email is automatically sent to the recipient that contains a link allowing the recipient to access the file on any device. Clicking the link will take them to the webpage where they can download the file. If the recipient has a Spirio Cloud account — they will be able to log in and see the file in the browser view  of their Spirio Cloud account. In addition, that file will also appear in their Spirio app under the Spirio Cloud directory.  Files and folders that are shared with you are located under the username of the person that shared it with you. For example, JDAVIS/Practice Sessions/Moonlight_Sonata.

Spirio cloud Browser view

If someone shares a file with you, you will receive a notification email. Clicking the link in the email will take you to the browser view page of your Spirio Cloud account. You will see all cloud-based files here (but you will not see files stored on your Spirio piano).

From the browser view, you can download a cloud-based file to your computer or mobile device. From there, you can share, save, or use the file as needed (listen to an mp3, or load a MIDI file into your DAW, etc.)

To load a file from a computer or mobile device to a Spirio piano, start by using the browser view to upload a file to your Spirio Cloud.  You would then be able to see that file in the Spirio app and download the file onto your piano.

Spirio Contacts

You can add, remove and save Contacts with the Spirio app — making it easy to share and exchange files in the Spirio Cloud. Access your Contacts in the left pane of the My Music tab.

Tapping anywhere on a track in the Cloud will popup a display of Contacts you have shared that file with. Contacts are a convenient way to share files with other Spirio users. You can also share files with people who do not have Spirio accounts via email address.

Keep in mind that Spirio files require a Spirio to listen to the file — but you can convert files to MP3 or MIDI to share with users who do not have access to a Spirio piano.

spirio account

A Spirio account allows a Spirio owner to access the Spirio Cloud file management system in the Spirio app as well as the browser-based version.

Create a Spirio Account

To create a Spirio account, open your Spirio App select My Music > and tap the Sign In button at the top-left of the page.  In the pop-up window, select Create Account and follow the prompts.  Spirio will send a confirmation email to the email address provided to ensure secure access.  Once the email has been confirmed, your new account is available.

manage your spirio account

To manage your Spirio User Profile, open the Spirio app, select My Music and tap on the profile avatar icon (colorful circle icon) above your display name at the top-left of the screen.

In the User Profile screen, you can update your display name (this appears at the top of the screen – and is how other Spirio contacts will see you), password and email address, as well as sign-out your Spirio account on the iPad.

spirio account vs. spirio id

A Spirio ID, provided by your Steinway & Sons representative at time of purchase, is the six or seven-digit number that grants access to the Spirio app and content.  A Spirio account is user-specific.  For example, a household could use the same Spirio ID on multiple iPads to access the Spirio app, but each user should have their own Spirio account to manage their own files.

For Spirio owners with access to Spiriocast, your Spirio account also grants access to participate in private Spiriocasts from Spirio account Contacts, whereas public Spiriocast events (those hosted by Steinway & Sons) are available to any Spirio owner with access to Spiriocast (Spiriocast availability varies by region and Spirio piano model).

File Backups & Restoration

All files on your piano are automatically backed-up daily and can be manually restored to your piano from here:  Settings > Piano Settings > Cloud File Management.

Spirio is automatically set to back up all your files for the past 10 days, but you can manually back up the files on your piano at any time. This is a good practice after a long recording or editing session.
