4:00 PM PT | 7:00 PM ET | 1:00 CET (8th)

Lang Lang visits the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s Auditorium in Paris to give a performance of Bach's Goldberg Variations.

Program approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes

Driven by its mission to serve the public, the Fondation Louis Vuitton grounds its commitment to the contemporary arts within an historical perspective. To promote the arts both nationally and internationally, it hosts temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, presents works held in its collection, commissions artists to create site-specific pieces, and stages events across the cultural spectrum.

Starting with a pencil sketch on a blank sheet of paper, Frank Gehry designed “a magnificent vessel for Paris that symbolizes France’s profound cultural vocation.” This breathtaking space is flooded with light and offers expansive views of the surroundings. The FLV has become an iconic landmark of the French capital.

The Fondation’s Auditorium is dedicated to celebrating the arts, and brings together musicians and artists of all disciplines. With a capacity ranging from 320 to 1,000 spectators depending on the configuration, the Auditorium offers visitors a truly special experience thanks to its exceptional acoustics and innovative equipment.

In order to reflect the diversity and vitality of the world of music, the Fondation hosts a programme of classical, jazz and contemporary concerts in the Auditorium. Since its inaugural recital on 24 October 2014 given by Lang Lang, the Auditorium has welcomed many distinguished international artists including Tedi Papavrami, Yuja Wang, Vladimir Spivakov, Matthias Pintscher, Krystian Zimerman, and Alexandre Kantorow.

Lang Lang is a leading figure in classical music – as a pianist, educator and philanthropist he has become one of the world’s most influential and committed ambassadors for the arts in the 21st century. Equally happy playing for billions of viewers at the 2008 Olympic Opening Ceremony in Beijing or just for a few hundred children in the public schools, he is a master of communicating through music.

Heralded by the New York Times as “the hottest artist on the classical music planet”, Lang Lang plays sold-out concerts all over the world. He has formed ongoing collaborations with conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Barenboim and Christoph Eschenbach and performs with all the world’s top orchestras. Lang Lang is known for thinking outside the box and frequently steps into different musical worlds. His performances at the GRAMMY Awards with Metallica, Pharrell Williams or jazz legend Herbie Hancock were watched by millions of viewers.
